Working women with years on the sidelines know how to play the game of business. They’ve studied all the moves and know the truth. They know they can do things better than bosses if given the chance…so why not take it?

Are You An Empress, Ready To Master The Game of Business?

Take this 10 Point Quiz to see if you’re an Entrepreneuress (Think Empress!). Like Empress Elisabeth of Austria (also known as Sisi) who ran away from the depressing male dominance of Vienna – you know you deserve better

…and you’re just the person to make the necessary changes happen!

1. My employer earned at least $500,000 from my production or productivity (in sales, marketing, cost structure savings, or technical expertise).

Add 1 point for each $500,000.

  • What would earning a greater percentage of the money you actually make do for you?

2. Our team’s HR Partner gave me a positive review when we discussed my performance in the last quarter. My boss responded with written neutral comments, and these prevented me from getting a raise. Since my productivity has steadily increased over the past twelve months, I sent a written response to HR for the file. My boss took me aside and suggested, “Let it go.”

Add 1 point if you added details to the original file response.

  • When was the last time you decided to stand up for YOU?

3. I’ve trained at least one full-time employee for our team or division in the past year. I did so while managing my usual work but received no financial rewards or a promotion for this contribution.

Add 1 point if this, or a similar event, happened.

  • You realize that more work for less pay means…you’re actually earning less, don’t you? If you’re not increasing your earnings and/or position, you’re not merely ‘staying the same’!

4. Our team recently interviewed a woman about my age for an open position. My co-workers, both men, enjoyed a laugh about her hair style. One said to the other, “She should really stay at home with her grandchildren…”

Add 1 point if this, or a similar scenario, happened.

  • Ageism is real. If you’re lucky enough to hear these words come from co-workers lips, ask them to speak loudly into your mobile recorder!

5. My doctor says I’m overweight, suffering from adrenal fatigue, or have a stress disorder. She says this is my body’s response to physical and mental stress. I get enough regular exercise, about thirty minutes a session, three or four days a week. I can’t lose weight.

Add 1 point if struggling with any body-mind issues.

  • How much is your health worth to you?

6. I drive a ten-year-old car and should be able to buy a new one. I can’t. because my boss didn’t give me a bonus last year. I’ve worked for the company at least five years and always earned a bonus in previous years. My work productivity is increasing.

Add 1 point if a discretionary bonus was withheld from you but awarded to other, less productive people in your division.

  • Why not transition to self-employment? All those business miles you can’t expense now (because you don’t have an expense account) will be yours to claim on next year’s 1040!

7. I live paycheck to paycheck. I know that I should save the maximum in our 401(k) plan so that I can retire one day. But that’s impossible! (Why don’t I make enough money?)

Add 1 point if you’re not contributing at least ten percent of pretax earnings to the 401(k).

  • How can you fund a 401(k) without the means to do so? You don’t make enough money...but that´s going to change soon!

8. I don’t sleep well and even I know I deserve to enjoy rest and relaxation.

Add 1 point if you’re not getting at least six hours of solid sleep per night.

  • Change your mind before going to sleep tonight. Decide to work for yourself and, quite possibly, you’ll sleep better and wake up feeling great!

9. It’s been at least _______ months since I enjoyed a feel-good treatment such as a manicure, pedicure, facial or massage.

Add 1 point if self-care seems less important. (Please distinguish these treatments from the purchase of cosmetics, hair color, hair extensions, or gel nails.)

  • Are you trying to ‘fight’ aging or growing older with grace? A facial is a low-cost luxury that will make you feel good. Don’t bother with Botox and the rest. Doctors know that metabolized botulinum Type A migrates to the brain!

10. I’m divorced and have child support or other payments issues.

Add 1 point if you’re caring for one or more children at home or supporting children in college or grad school.

  • When you decide to change your life, everyone in your life is going to change. Have you thought about how wonderful it will be to stop fighting with an ex-spouse because you won’t need his cash?
